The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, which took place on Sunday, is a highlight of Monterey Car Week and the North American collector car calendar. According to the event organizers, this year's event marked the 75th anniversary of the concours, with 218 cars on display across roughly two dozen classes.

Event Highlights

The anniversary categories covered a wide range of cars, from pre-World War I American speedsters to Japanese Le Mans racers from the 1980s and 1990s. Ferrari was featured as the honored marque, with two special exhibits showcasing Vignale coachwork and Luigi Chinetti's NART race Ferraris. A 1954 375 America Vignale Cabriolet won in the custom-bodied Ferraris category, while a 166 MM Touring Barchetta won among the NART race Ferraris.

Award Winners

The Best of Show award, which includes an engraved Rolex Perpetual 1908, was won by Harry Yeaggy's 1935 Duesenberg SSJ Special Speedster, previously owned by Clark Gable. Two Ferraris, the 1955 375 MM Pinin Farina Berlinetta and the 1954 375 America Vignale Cabriolet, were nominated for the award but did not win. The Ferrari Grand Touring class saw the 1955 Ferrari 375 MM Pinin Farina Berlinetta secure a convincing class win.

Notable Cars

Other notable cars on display included the Alfa Romeo BAT concept cars, designed by Franco Scaglione, which featured wide wing-like tail fins and covered wheel arches. The Automobiles of Royal India class presented a contrast in style, with opulent luxury cars tailored to Indian Maharajas, including a majestic supercharged six-cylinder 1929 Mercedes-Benz 630K Sports Tourer.
