Alpine A110 sculpture teases new generation at Paris 2026

Alpine will reveal its new A110 generation via a full-size sculpture at the Paris Motor Show 2026. The Volkswagen ID.4 is being renamed ID.Tiguan, with a full unveiling scheduled for early October.

The Paris show opens on October 12, 2026. The sculptural preview signals a design evolution for the iconic sports car, described as slightly larger, lower, and longer than its predecessor.

Powertrain uncertainty surrounds the new A110

While the new A110 platform can accommodate a hybrid powertrain, Alpine has not decided whether to offer a traditional gasoline-powered version. The company stated in March that the Alpine buyer values gasoline engines and may insist on them.

The potential electric configuration includes two rear-mounted motors and dual battery packs positioned on either side of the monocoque. Dalmo Hernandes noted, "A geração passada do Alpine A110 durou quase dez anos, de 2017 até 2026."

Volkswagen rebrands ID.4 as ID.Tiguan for global clarity

Volkswagen is renaming the ID.4 to ID.Tiguan to align with its strong Tiguan brand and clearly communicate the electric powertrain to consumers. The ID.Tiguan is a restyled ID.4 intended to succeed both the ID.4 and ID.5 models, which will likely be retired after its release.

The vehicle retains the ID.4 silhouette but features changes to the front and rear, especially adopting more rectilinear, futuristic headlights and taillights. Its interior may replace touch-sensitive controls with physical buttons for climate, windows, and some multimedia functions.

Volkswagen confirmed the model is coming and showed images of it undergoing testing under camouflage. The ID.Tiguan will be available alongside the combustion and hybrid-powered Tiguan, following the ID. Polo and ID. Cross in Volkswagen's ID lineup.

ID.Tiguan launch coincides with Tiguan’s million-unit milestone

The Tiguan is currently the best-selling model worldwide for both the Volkswagen brand and the entire Volkswagen Group. In the past year alone, deliveries of the Tiguan and its sister model, the Tayron, exceeded one million units.

Meanwhile, the ID.4 and ID.5 combined have reached 950,000 units sold since their 2021 launch. Volkswagen says the ID.Tiguan release will happen at the beginning of next year.

The Alpine A110 sculpture will be displayed at the Paris Motor Show 2026 beginning October 12. The Volkswagen ID.Tiguan will be fully unveiled in early October, with availability following its release next year.
