Ford Recalls 2023-2026 F-150 Trucks Over Fuel Tank Strap Defect
Ford has initiated a safety recall for F-150 trucks from model years 2023 to 2026 due to improperly installed fuel tank straps that could detach, posing a fire risk and potential for fatal accidents.

Ford began recall service on Wednesday, 14th, for F-150s manufactured between 2023 and 2026 due to a fuel tank strap assembly defect. The issue stems from improperly installed fuel tank retaining straps that may detach, causing fuel leaks, fire risk, or fatal accidents. In extreme cases, the fuel tank may detach completely from the vehicle structure. This can cause unexpected engine shutdown while driving.
The metal straps responsible for securing the fuel tank may not have been properly installed on the chassis during factory mounting. Insufficient fastening can cause loss of stability. A detached fuel tank could cause serious or fatal accidents involving vehicle occupants and third parties. The defect can cause fuel leaks, increasing fire risk. If the tank detaches while moving, there is a clear risk of accidents, serious bodily harm, and death.
Affected vehicles and timeline
The recall covers F-150 trucks from model years 2023 to 2026, with specific chassis ranges and production dates disclosed for each year. Ford initiated the recall service on Wednesday, 14th October 2026.
